La diosa Palas Atenea, investida de OLIVO (símbolo de firmeza y sabiduría) domina al centauro que representa a la humanidad con su doble naturaleza de alma (intelectual e irracional o animal). Atenea sería la imagen de la esfera superior, el intelecto de origen divino, que habita en las esferas celestes y guía a la parte inferior representada aquí por Centauro. Por eso Palas toma por el pelo a Centauro para llevarlo por el camino adecuado. Y mientras que Centauro siguiendo sus instintos está probando su arco para dispararlo, la diosa suavemente le desvía de su propósito.
